The Merthyr Tydfil Global Village 2008 was held on 6th July 2008 at Cyfarthfa Park, Merthyr Tydfil. (How to find us!)

The Merthyr Tydfil Global Village Event was established in 2005 to celebrate and raise awareness of the cultural diversity and heritage of Merthyr Tydfil.

Initial discussion took place within the Multi Agency Diversity Forum (MADF) - a partnership of local statutory and voluntary organisations that meet to address issues of diversity and hate crime. The members of the MADF wanted to develop an event that took their responsibilities and work in this area outside of their own organisations.

It was decided that an event linked to Merthyr Tydfil's Heritage Festival would be the best way to involve as many members of the community as possible.

Last year the programme featured some local talent but mostly invited guests from outside the borough. This year the organisers are delighted that so many more local groups are involved. We are particularly proud of the work our local young people have put into preparing for this event, finding out about the cultures and traditions of people who are members of our community and alos celebrating Merthyr's own history.

We hope that you enjoy the event and look forward to seeing you again next year
